Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Can you pick me up at my hotel?
A: No, Dive Safaris does not currently offer a land transportation service. Your hotel will be able to arrange for transportation by taxi. Rental cars are also easily available.

Q: Which dive sites will we be going to?
A: The decision on which dive site to go to is normally made in the morning on the way to the dive sites area. Factors such as weather, water conditions and if an other dive boat is already using a site will influence the choice of the site. Every possible effort will be made by the Dive Safaris staff to show as many different dive sites as possible to our repeat customers.

Q: Can I cancel my reservation after I gave my 20% deposit?
A: Yes! A full refund will be made for any reservations cancelled 24 hrs or more before departure time.

Q: Can somebody come along on the boat?
A: Yes! Dive Safaris welcomes "riders" on all it's dive trips as long as the boat is not full. Please understand that the dive trips normally last 3 to 4 hours and that the dive boat does not come back between dives. Also, due to sea conditions, anyone easily affected by motion sickness should not come as a rider. Dive Safaris will not take children under 12 as a rider.

Q: Do you accept credit cards?
A: Yes! We accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express.

Q: What do I need to bring with me?
A: Most important of all, bring your certification card. Even if Dive Safaris is able to provide you with all the equipment needed for the dives, feel free to bring any of your own gear. No need to bring any drinks since soft drinks and fresh water are available during the trips. Bring some extra money for gratuities and souvenirs.

Q: Where is the nearest recompression chamber?
A: The nearest recompression chamber is at the Saba Hyperbaric Facility which is a short 10 minutes flight from St Maarten.

Q: I do not have my certification card with me, what should I do?
A: For PADI certified divers, a $5.00 fee will be charged for an online dive check. You will need to provide us with your first name, last name, middle initial and date of birth in order for us to do so.

For the divers certified with a agency other than PADI (ex. NAUI, SSI, NASDS, CMAS, ACUC, BESAC, etc.), you will need to personally call you certification agency and ask them to fax you a proof of certification.

IMPORTANT: Dive Safaris will not take a customer without a proper proof of certification on a dive.

Q: My last dive was during my vacation 3 years ago... What should I do?
A: Dive Safaris requires all divers to have dived within the last 2 years in order to take part in its regular dives. If your last dive was more than 24 months ago, we will propose you a shallow refresher dive prior to going to our regular dive sites.
